Water - Existing Situation

Investigation to date reveals that the existing water supply system is insufficient in meeting the present demand. At present, the San Jose del Monte Water District only serves 54 barangays in the City and one in Norzagaray (Barangay Tigbe). Some residential subdivisions have their own independent Level III water supply systems while the rest rely on government donated artesian wells, open dug wells and hand pumps (Level I water supply). The other areas (i.e. Barangays Tungkong Mangga, Kaybanban, San Roque, Paradise III and San Isidro) rely on free flowing water from the rivers, creeks and springs.

A Comprehensive Water Supply System Improvement (CWSSI) – Phase II is scheduled for implementation on the last quarter of 2003 or the second quarter of 2004. Financed by the LWUA, the project will provide water supply in the areas not yet covered by the water district, These are the areas in the southwest barangays and Barangay Minuyan Proper on the north.
